Medical education grant requests must demonstrate the ability to meet unmet educational needs of the target audience and encourage the improvement of patient outcomes (medical education grant requests for CME programs must be completely independent from VIVUS). The selection of medium and format should be commensurate with the educational needs, the audience, learning preferences, geography, content complexity, and other factors which contribute to educational effectiveness. The types of organizations eligible to apply for grants include hospitals, medical centers, professional societies and associations. Vivus is also committed to supporting Continuing Medical Education (CME) and independent educational activities that will improve patient health through educating healthcare professionals. Vivus believes support should be aligned with the company’s areas of interest, be independent of Vivus, have scientific merit, and be conducted with the highest level of standards endorsed by the medical community. VIVUS competitively reviews all requests to align resources with the highest quality scientific programs, and is interested in funding education relating to the epidemiology, diagnosis, and/or treatment of the following areas:
Medical education grant submissions should be made at least 12 weeks prior to the event date to ensure all necessary review and paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
